I just watched the movie "Becoming Jane." I love all things Jane Austen and knew that she never married and all that, but goodness gracious the movie made me cry it was so sad! I almost wish she had been a slightly nutty recluse like Emily Bronte was, as opposed to someone who just never got cut a break! Seriously, this was almost too much for me to handle. Like the subject line says... sap *points at self*. BUT, it was a beautiful movie and I highly recommend it.

On a happier note, I JUST got my trip to Hawaii rebooked. I found out a little over a week ago that since ATA has gone bankrupt they wont be servicing any flights after the end of April, and that is how I was getting from LAX to Hawaii. Although all these other airlines were SUPPOSED to help out, they all just sucked. I mean, the trip for airline and hotel was already going to run about $1500 for tickets from Washington DC to Hawaii and hotel, and they were all basically saying "so sorry. we will take off our normal booking fee of $25 and schedule you for new flights to and from LAX and Honolulu... that will be $1000." Yeah, I can afford the $1500 to be maid of honor in my best friends wedding. I CAN'T afford $2500. I need to buy a new car in a month or so and I am trying to save for a house! Oh, let me tell you...

The BEAUTIFUL part of all this was the fact that Bank of America is amazing. I put the tickets and everything on my debit card because I had the money and didn't want to pay interest. I was afraid when all this came up that there was going to be no way to dispute a charge (the method recommended to get all legs of the tickets canceled and receive a refund) when it was essentially paid for in cash. Not the case. I called up and they instantly credited me for the amount and if they can't get back the money from ATA, then they just cover it themselves. That was such a huge relief. So now I have new tickets going through Northwest Airlines and it is at the original price I planned on. Thank goodness. I would have sucked it up if $2500 was what it would have cost, but I feel so much better about it now.

Anyway, that is my quick post. So, for anyone with plane tickets for any time this year, check and make sure they aren't ATA, If they are, REBOOK NOW!!!

Which of the 7 Deadly Sins do you think you relate to the most and why?
Pride, but I don't think I take it to the extreme. I am proud of who I am and what I have accomplished, but I think I still have humility.

12. Which of the 7 Virtues do you think you relate to the most and why?
I don't really know what the official 7 virtues are, but I am going to say compassion. Even with the people I truly dislike, I think I still have compassion for where they may be coming from.

13. Who is currently the most important person to you?
Well, right now it is just me and the cat. So I guess I am going to say myself. I am taking care of myself and my goals right now.

14. What kind of person do you think you are?
Positive and caring. Gullible. But I would rather be gullible than eaten up with negativity. I have been there and can't go back again.

15. Do you have a motto? If yes which one?
Less a motto and more a view on life: Try your best. Even if you fail, you have the personal satisfaction of knowing you tried.

19. Why do you journal on the web?
I post rarely, so it is more for me to see that other people deal with the same issues as I do.

20. SHE AND MY UNCLE ARE MOVING TO THE DC METRO AREA... 1 MILE FROM WHERE I LIVE. Now, my uncle spends a good part of his time at his family farm in South Dakota, but on top of that, he is an amazing cook and amusingly crazy. So, while he is here we will be able to have good eating, crazy family time. While he is gone, Cheryl and I will have a traveling buddy (discussion is already revolving around the Outer Banks, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, NYC where another aunt and one of her sisters lives, etc etc), a shopping buddy (sigh, I am sure I can suck it up and deal), and a familiar face when life gets a little rough.

So, thank goodness for having a KICK ASS family!!!!

So I don't know what brought this on, but I have been noticing lately how many of the songs I listen to frequently are from shows I have enjoyed over the years. These are the songs that seem to really connect and support a scene, so they make me think of the scene. Simply because of the fact that those songs are most frequently slower songs, that is what most of these songs are. I decided to make a list for anyone who is interested. If you know and enjoy a couple of the songs, give some of the others a look, too. And with how hard this "cut" thing has been for me to figure out, I really hope someone actually cares!!!!

Music
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Season 1 – Episode “Angel”: I'll Remember You by Sophie Zellmani

Season 3 – Episode “The Prom': Wild Horses by The Sundays

Season 4: Episode “The Harsh Light of Day”: Lucky by Bif Naked

Season 6 – Episode “Tabula Rosa”: Goodbye To You by Michelle Branch

Season 6 – Episode “Entropy”: That Kind of Love by Alison Krauss

Season 6 – Episode “Grave”: Prayer of Saint Francis by Sarah Mclachlan

Season 7 – Episode “Sleeper”: Pavlov's Bell by Aimee Mann

Season 7 – Episode “Touched”: Only Love by Heather Nova

Felicity
Season 1 – Episode “Felicity Was Here”: I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan

Season 2 – Episode “Ben Was Here”: The Sarah Mclachlan speech by Meggan
(No, this isn't a song. Tt is the speech Meggan gives to explain how to tell that Felicity still love Ben, but it is SO worth mentioning!)

Season 2 – Episode “The Aretha Theory”: Like Lovers Do by Heather Nova
(This is the song played on the DVD, but in the actual airing of the show, it was Ice Cream by Sarah McLachlan. Both of them are great songs, but I identify with the Heather Nova song b/c I own the DVD and so that is the one I think of.)

Season 4 – Episode “The Power of The Ex”: Over and Over by Blaire Woods Reinhard

Grey's Anatomy
Season 2 – Episode “Superstition”: How To Save a Life by The Fray

Season 2 – Episode “Losing My Religion”: Grace by Kate Havenik

Season 3 – Episode “From A Whisper To A Scream”: 9 Crimes by Damien Rice

Season 3 – Episode “Drowning On Dry Land”: A Bitter Song by Butterfly Boucher

The O.C.
Season 1 – Episode “The Ties That Bind”: Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

Veronica Mars
Season 1 – Episode “You Think You Know Somebody”: Such Great Heights by The Postal Service

Season 1 – Episode “You Think You Know Somebody”: The New Kid by Old 97's

Season 1 – Episode “Clash of the Tritons”: All They Ever Do Is Talk by Earlimart

Season 1 – Episode “Weapons of Class Destruction”: Momentary Thing by Something Happens
(Who DOESN'T identify this song with this scene if they have seen this show????)

Season 1 – Episode “Leave It To Beaver”: Bad Boyfriend by Garbage

Season 1 – Episode “Leave It To Beaver”: Lily Dreams On by Cotton Mather

Season 2 – Episode “Normal Is The Watchword”: Long Time Coming by Delays

Season 2 – Episode “Normal Is The Watchword”: Ashes by Embrace

Season 2 – Episode “Blast From The Past”: No Sleep Tonight by The Faders

Season 2 – Episode “Blast From The Past”: Whatever It Takes by The Faders

Season 2 – Episode “Donut Run”: Adelaide by Old 97's

Season 2 – Episode “Versatile Toppings”: I Don't Know by Starsailor

Season 2 – Episode “The Rapes of Graff”: I Know I Know I Know by Tegan and Sara

Season 2 – Episode “Plan B”: Sway by The Perishers
(Who WASN'T begging for them to kiss???)

Season 2 – Episode “Look Who's Stalking”: I Hear The Bells by Mike Doughty

Season 2 – Episode “Happy Go Lucky”: Lost and Found by Adrienne Pierce

Season 2 – Episode “Not Pictured”: Time Flies Tomorrow by Paul Westerberg

Enjoy!!!

I started reading a LoVe fic (I know!!! many of you hate that stuff now!!! but hear me out!!!!) that I lost track of before I finished reading it... it is a future fic set while V and L are roommates. Supposedly a no romance roommate situation that apparently ends as LoVe. I don't remember much, but from what I remember, it was possibly a 2 part (maybe just b/c LJ has issues with long posts, which is stupid) story and the writing was good. I have started to read many stories that had bad writing and had to stop, but this one was actually good writing. That is why it sticks in my mind. So, if you know where I can find this story OR... if the story is yours, TELL ME WHERE TO FIND IT!!!!

Happy birthday to ME!!!!

This day has been a mix of good and bad, sweet and annoying, love etc etc etc.

I of course had to go to work even though it is my special day which is part of the BAD. I could have taken the day off, I guess, but when I take time off that just means that the subsequent days are that much harder because I can only hand off so much to other people. That is the downside of being the "substantive expert" on a topic. But at the same time, it is GOOD to be needed.

The SWEET... I got surprised with a cupcake with a candle in it by my boss first thing in the morning. It was so sweet. I haven't blown out a candle in... oh lets see... I have lived in DC for 4 birthdays now, so 5 years was the last time! Not that my b-days have been bad out here, just nothing that involved candles, so that was so nice.

The ANNOYING was that my wireless router has been crapping out the last few days and I finally figured out that was the problem. Which means I had to go drop money on that then set it up and configure it and....ARRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!! Such a huge pain, but my wonderful dad helped me from CO via phone while he was getting off work. And it is a better, faster router so everything is much faster to do. Plus, it turns out he ordered me an Airport Express for my birthday that should be getting here in a day or two. For those who don't have Mac computers, that is this totally awesome thing that lets me listen to my iTunes through... MY STEREO!!! How cool is that??? I mean, I have an awesome stereo with great speakers and anytime I want to listen to something I have to burn it. Now I won't have to!!!

And my mom got me a kickass lime green, neoprene tote that is shaped to hold wine and alcohol bottles. Since it is neoprene, it keeps the bottles chilled. I had been thinking about getting one b/c "The Girls" and I are going to a concert on Sunday at Wolftrap, which is this cool outdoor venue that allows you to bring in any food and drink you want so we were planning on trying to bring a couple of bottles of wine... there are going to be like 6 of us, so it isn't like we will be getting shitty or anything, just enjoying the concert with great snack foods and some nice wine. Or sparking cider for my friend who is pregnant.

AND - my brother was going to be traveling all day today so he called me last night to wish me a happy pre-birthday, but I also had 4 voicemail birthday messages on my cell when I got off work (have to turn the phone off when I am at work... that is what happens when you work around classified info all day)... my mom, my dad, my brother (from an airport on a layover) and one of my best friend's, April. There is the LOVE... So on the whole, this has been a good day.

Happy birthday to ME!!!!

So tomorrow I am winging my way from the east coast to the upper midwest to spend a week on a ranch. Horseback riding, fishing, hiking... paradise!!!

Of course, I had to work 55 hours or so this week to make it possible. That is the hard part of being a "responsible" adult with a "big girl" job... my work isn't over when my shift ends. There is always more to do. And more. And MORE. But I think I got myself to a place where the 3 people who are taking over my responsibilities might be able to get through the week without me so I would say my hellishly long days (starting at 5:30 am every morning and not leaving until at least 5pm) were worth it.

So, I have no idea if this lovely ranch will have any sort of internet access much wireless so I can use my laptop. I only ask that my friendly f-listers make sure that all the most exciting, thrilling stuff be VERY prominently displayed, cause I think it is going to take me days to catch up on everything that happens over the next 9 days.

Have a great week, everyone! I'll catch you on the flipside!!!

This has been the worst evening of my life. So far. After 2 years of fighting cancer and entering remission twice, my best friend has been told that the most she can now do is prolong her life for awhile.

She is the kindest, most caring friend I could have ever imagined, a single mom to the most beautiful godson, Brayden, a girl could ask for, and she now is faced with leaving her son to grow up without a mother. I just can't comprehend the complete unfairness of this.

I cant believe that I am going to lose my best friend. Is there anyone out there who can explain how I do this? Please?

Okay, so I have 3 topics to cover here.

I have rerealized my love for the show "The 4400." I didn't have cable when it started to air, but I always wanted to see it. My brother ended up giving me season 1 for Christmas and I instantly ordered season 2 after watching the 1st episode. Now I have season 3 on order from Amazon and season 4 started tonight. Since I am not caught up on the show, I couldn't watch it tonight, but I definitely know it is one of those shows I will be totally stalking to see when it comes out on dvd. If anyone HASN'T seen the show, WATCH IT!!!

The next topic is possibly controversial to those who have become anti-VM... here is my question for those who will no longer post VM-fic... just because people don't appreciate the way that RT decided to take the show, don't we still love some of the characters? I agree that the way that Logan and Veronica ended up going (whether that was in their relationship or their characters in general) wasn't the way I hoped it would go. They were amazing characters who I still enjoy in theory. I may not have been thrilled with the way the show went with them, but seriously... who doesn't love the snark between them? Or the sparks from season 1 and 2? I understand why many (including JD as we all know) are upset with the change in Logan's character. I lost that cockiness and edge that made his romantic notion of things so truly powerful. I mean, "Logan the Ass" being in love with "Veronica the Hard to Get Close Too But Still Lovable"???? Who DOESN'T love that?????? This is why I wonder why so many people are turning their backs on writing fics about these characters!!! You can write them in any incarnation that you prefer!!! IGNORE SEASON 3 IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT!!! Logan and Veronica can still be the same people we ALL loved from the beginning!!! Okay... thus endeth the rant.

Number 3 is going to be an ongoing thing that I will copy and paste from post to post because I KNOW someone out there knows to what I refer, so here it goes...

Here is my request...

I used that as a precursor... I know that some of my flist are fans of specific characters, but no longer fans of the show so I was hoping that would entice everyone to read this... one of my INFREQUENT posts...

So, here is my plea... even though the show itself is over doesn't mean that those of us who loved elements of the show (of the show as a whole regardless of the BAD parts... for example, I hate Piz, doesn't mean I didn't still enjoy the show for the most part) shouldn't still appreciate it. I will admit right now... I CAN'T WRITE. I am not a writer, I am a beta. I read, enjoy, edit and make suggestions for my friends on their stories. I may have ideas for stories, but I don't have the talent to write them.

DON'T THINK THERE AREN'T READERS FOR FIC ANYMORE!!!! There totally are. Just think about it, there are still readers for Buffy. and Firefly. and Alias. and so many other shows that have been off the air for awhile.

Here is my request...

Thank you for reading.

So I am currently watching one of the best episodes that ever came out of the show The West Wing. I have NO idea if any of you watched it, but it is worth discussing anyway. Season 2 finale... it just has some of the best dialogue and most amazing scenes I have ever seen on television. It is one of those things that still amazes me regardless of how many times I have watched it. If you have never seen the show I think it is a shame. If you were a viewer and somehow missed this one, then you absolutely have to find a way to see it.

Aside from that... it was a weekend. A weekend VERY short on postings of the fic's I am waiting for! What is UP, everyone! I need a fix!

No one on here really knows me, but I happen to live in Virginia. I also grew up in Colorado. Why do I bring this up? I had friends who's younger siblings survived Columbine. I had to stand there holding a dorm-mates hand while she waited to find out if her little brother was one of those who wouldn't be walking out of that school... now I live just a few hours away from what happened at Virginia Tech. I rooted for them in the Final Four until they lost in round 2 but thought how cool it was that so many schools from VA made it. The insanity of what happened... I just can't come up with anything to say. I just got an email from an F-list friend saying "Just. No. Words." That just about captures it.

So I guess this posting is to let anyone and everyone know that the entire state of Virginia will be wearing burgundy and/or orange tomorrow in support of that poor school in Blacksburg. I have mentioned this to friends who don't live in VA and I now know of at least a dozen people across the country, from NY to Hawaii who will be wearing their colors, also. I thought I would spread the word this way, too. Obviously, this is totally up to everyone whether the want to or not, but maybe a little bit of solidarity and support is what people need sometimes, even if no one else realizes that is what is happening.

Sorry for the sentimentality. I am just feeling it right now. All those poor kids...

Alright, so I know that the majority of my Flist is people I found with my same obsession for VM, but I have also found that a great many of you share my additional love of all things Buffy, so I decided that posting this wouldn't COMPLETELY bore... well... SOME of you.

I have been re-watching old episodes of the early seasons and have reconfirmed my love for Oz. Yes, Tara is a wonderful character later in the series and her relationship with Willow is a thing to marvel at. I HATE Kennedy and that is about all THAT relationship deserves for comment. But there is something about Oz... not only his deadpan sarcasm but his adorable half-smile (yeah, I am an admitted Seth Green fan) and the back and forth with Willow that flows so well... I just love it. I miss it. I think it was really my favorite part of Season 2.

Alright, that is it. I love Seth Green and his character Oz... it is of the good. Wow, seriously need to stop watching Buffy... this ALWAYS happens. I start with the Buffy-speak...

Happy Easter to all!!!

So, this is my first posting, and I don't know how often it will happen, but here goes anyway.

Is it just me, or is it extraordinarily annoying when shows go on hiatus??? I know not everyone is happy with the direction VM has been going this season, but I am a new convert to the show. I started watching it b/c it was coming on after Gilmore Girls. After a couple episodes I bought Seasons 1 and 2 and fell in love with the show. Regardless of my frustration with the LoVe relationship and the fact that I can't STAND Piz... gggrrrr... still annoyed that in place of my Tuesday night fix Pussycat Dolls crap is on. My frustration knows no bounds!!!

And why on EARTH has Wallace become the guy who shows up for a 35 second scene every other episode lately? The friendship between Wallace and Veronica was one of my favorite things about the 1st couple seasons and I totally miss it. I think he logged more air time in 1 episode in previous seasons that he has total in the last 5 episodes.

Aside from that, I still don't like that it will probably be canceled after this season. The new format people have been discussing... 5 years in the future and Veronica an FBI agent... sorry, I just don't see it. I mean, the rules that she breaks (which, by the way, is half the fun) would NEVER go over there. I would know. I turned down that exact job for the same reasons. Wish I realized I didn't want to do it before I went through the 8 month process to get OFFERED the job, but whatever. Life lessons. That, plus no Keith and no Logan... definitely ruins the entire appeal this show holds for me.
